About Taxi Trip Zanzibar

We drive Zanzibar.
We live Zanzibar.

A small team of Zanzibari drivers who turned a love for our island into a 24/7 transfer service that travelers from Italy, France, Germany, the UK, and across Africa trust every single day — from the moment their flight lands at AAKIA to the moment they wave goodbye in Nungwi or Paje.

7+ Years on Zanzibar's roads
10k+ Airport transfers completed
4 Core drivers + island network
5 Languages spoken at the wheel

Taxi Trip Zanzibar started the way most good ideas start: with a problem. Travelers were landing at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport at midnight, jet-lagged and clutching a hotel address, only to be greeted by a chaotic taxi rank, surprise prices, and drivers who couldn't always confirm a route.

A group of us — born and raised between Stone Town, Bububu, and Mkokotoni — decided to build the service we'd want our own families to use. Flight-tracked pickups. Fixed prices, written down before the engine starts. Air-conditioned cars maintained on a weekly schedule. Drivers who speak the language of the guest, not just Swahili.

Today our core team of four runs the wheel, supported by a vetted network across the island. Most weeks, more than half our bookings come from guests a previous traveler told to call us. That word-of-mouth is the only marketing we trust.

Why travelers book us — and book us again

Four reasons your transfer will be the easy part of the trip.

01

Experience that comes from living here

Our core drivers have a combined 30+ years on Zanzibar's roads. We know which Stone Town alleys close at sunset, which route around the city avoids afternoon traffic, and where the unmarked turn for your beach hotel actually is — especially in Paje, Jambiani, and Matemwe where Google Maps gives up.

02

Expertise across vehicles and languages

Solo couple, family of six, or 24-person wedding party — we have the right vehicle. Toyota Alphard for comfort. Hiace for families. Coaster for groups. Our team speaks English, Swahili, Italian, French, with German and Arabic available on request through our extended driver network.

03

Authority from being properly licensed

We operate under a registered Tanzanian transport license, with vehicles fully insured and authorized for AAKIA airport pickups. Our drivers carry valid Class C public service permits. You can ask to see all of it — guests sometimes do, and we like that they do.

04

Trust because the price is the price

The fare we quote on WhatsApp is the fare you pay on arrival. No “luggage surcharge.” No surprise after-hours fee. No detour for fuel. We track your flight in real time at no extra charge, so a delay is our problem to solve, not yours.

Our promises

Six things we guarantee, in writing.

  • Flight tracking, no surcharge.

We watch your flight in real time. If you land late, we are still there.

  • Fixed pricing, per vehicle.

Quoted upfront. Not per person, not negotiated at the curb.

  • Name-card pickup at arrivals.

Your driver waits outside AAKIA arrivals holding a sign with your name.

  • Air-conditioned, weekly-serviced fleet.

Tires, brakes, AC, and interior cleaned every week. Not negotiable.

  • 24/7 human dispatch.

Real people on WhatsApp and phone. No bot, no “sorry, closed.”

  • Pay how you want.

M-Pesa, Yas, Visa, Mastercard, or cash in USD, EUR, or TZS on arrival.

If a guest gets to their hotel calm, on time, and feeling like Zanzibar already knows them — we did our job. That is the whole business.
