A small team of Zanzibari drivers who turned a love for our island into a 24/7 transfer service that travelers from Italy, France, Germany, the UK, and across Africa trust every single day — from the moment their flight lands at AAKIA to the moment they wave goodbye in Nungwi or Paje.
Taxi Trip Zanzibar started the way most good ideas start: with a problem. Travelers were landing at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport at midnight, jet-lagged and clutching a hotel address, only to be greeted by a chaotic taxi rank, surprise prices, and drivers who couldn't always confirm a route.
A group of us — born and raised between Stone Town, Bububu, and Mkokotoni — decided to build the service we'd want our own families to use. Flight-tracked pickups. Fixed prices, written down before the engine starts. Air-conditioned cars maintained on a weekly schedule. Drivers who speak the language of the guest, not just Swahili.
Today our core team of four runs the wheel, supported by a vetted network across the island. Most weeks, more than half our bookings come from guests a previous traveler told to call us. That word-of-mouth is the only marketing we trust.
